Recently I went through the one way funnel challenge, one of the things I learned there was the importance of the hook, story, offer in order to sell more products online.

The main idea of having a good back story is that more people can relate themself to you,  you need to be able to tell the story of you before you were successful.

You will gain more influence over your audience when you have a good back story. This is your personal story about how you started and how you got to where you are today.

Without a good back story, your audience will not warm to you as much and you will not get as much free traffic as you could from Facebook.

Use the Zero to Hero approach

Most people start their business from nothing so be sure to add a “zero to hero” element to your back story. You want to give your audience hope that they can do the same thing as you start from scratch.

We are not suggesting that you are dishonest in any way with your back story. But emphasizing that it was a real struggle for you to start with is something that most of your audience will resonate with.

The fastest way to make six figures is to model what is already selling well.  Just dive in and do the same things.  Sell similar products as others.  Sell what is already selling.

Most beginners think, “It’s already been done”… or “there’s already a lot of similar products like this out there”… or “there’s too much competition”

Just add your own USP (unique selling proposition).  Add in your own angle.  This is key.  If you see a lot of people are making money by promoting Clickfunnels, then sell Clickfunnels but with a unique twist.

For example, Clickfunnels For Lawyers or Clickfunnels For Doctors… Clickfunnels for moms… etc.

Sell “Dating for 50 somethings”… sell what sells but with your own twist.  But, get busy selling something!

When you’re starting out the main question is what traffic is better for you? paid traffic or free traffic, in this post I am going to analyze both of them so that you can make an educated choice.

You have two choices

You got two choices, pay for traffic or get free traffic.  Free might sound like the best solution for you, but free = hard work.  There’s just no other way.  You are either going to work hard for traffic… or you are going to pay for it.

It breaks down like this:

Free traffic = work very very hard for traffic, but you don’t spend much at all.

Paid traffic = not as much work, but still some work, but you spend money on it.

So, maybe you are saying you’d still rather get free traffic instead of paying for it.  Ok, consider this:

You might need to wait months for that free traffic to actually make some money and have it in your bank account.

With paid traffic, you can pay someone money now, and in the next how you can get some traffic to your squeeze page and start to build your business.

Most people in this business (especially those who are new) just don’t have long-term thinking, they want to make a quick buck and instant gratification and that delay in gratification (results) can crush their focus, they call everything a scam and they quit.

If months pass by and you have grown tired of this, and are not getting results, it’s easy to quit and move on to the next shiny object.  However, if you drive traffic via paid traffic, you can start dialing in your conversions right away!

I’m convinced the main reason that most people fail at this business is that it takes a long time for them to make money online because they do not know how to drive traffic and convert it.  They are terrible at conversions and they can’t get traffic.  That’s it.

So, that means, all you have to do is get good at both and your imagination is really the limit.  There are so many ways to generate traffic that it gets very confusing fast.

I recommend you pick one way of driving traffic that meets you best, and stick to it and make it work.  Then, later, after you’ve made one traffic method work, add another method (avenue) of getting traffic.

In this blog, you will find different forms of getting traffic, but you need to pick one and stick to it.  Whichever traffic method you pick ( free or paid), I will recommend sticking with it for at least 3 months in order to determine if works for you or not.

I need to know more before I start

This is another reason why most people stay on the fence and never get started with anything in life, they want to know everything before they get started.

Here is my advice, just start, make mistakes, try stuff, and adjust, don’t get stuck in the “I need one more course, one more book, etc.” trap.

Imagine you want to go upstairs and you have to walk 100 stairs, you do not need to be able to see all of them in order to start going up, you just need to know in which stair you’re at and the next one, the rest does not matter, this is the same when it comes to affiliate marketing.

Just take one step at a time and you will be ok.

I don’t have enough time to do this

When I talk to my friends about starting affiliate marketing most of them will tell me that they do not have time, some of them because of the job, some of the kids, church, etc.


I am not going to tell you to quit your job while you are making $0 per day ( that is just stupid), or leave your kids unattended, I know those things are a must, here is my recommendation.

Start by doing small every day, you can start a youtube channel and dedicate two hours of each and every day, in one hour you can record a 3 to 5 minutes video, edit it and upload to Youtube.

You can free up your time by eliminating time-wasters like watching tv or Netflix, watching cat videos on youtube, or by getting up earlier than usual and do everything you need to get done before starting your normal daily job schedule.

For me, I used to work after finishing my 9 to 5 job, after that I will write emails, send traffic to my squeeze pages till late at night, after some time I started to see an improvement in traffic, subscribers, and income.

Why I Started An Online Business

Getting the first online business to get started is always the hardest. The main problem is that if you’re new it might take time to start seeing results and most people quit before reaching that point.

I remember when I started my online venture, I was at university, with a lot of family obligations and I did not have a job ( I had a paid scholarship).

After school, I would stay awake late at night, learn everything I can on a given part of affiliate marketing, set everything up, after a few weeks of not making a dime, I would discard that business and start something else. 

I did this for years and this is why it took me too long to make my first sale.

After failing many times ( I can’t remember the real number but it is a huge number), I had to look for a job, after working few jobs here and there I got a job at a big corporate and a tech guy.

But I did not like that life as much as I thought I would, so I decided to get back to the online business.

Every day after work, I would bury myself on the computer, learning about affiliate marketing, traffic generation, and building blogs.

I usually worked until 2 am, sleeping only 4-5 hours before going to work the next day. This went on for about 6 months.

There were times when I wanted to give up.

But whenever I asked myself, “What other alternatives do I have?”, the answer was “None”.

I had this feeling that what I wanted I will never get from working in that company.

That had pushed me to continue working on my online business.

Don’t get me wrong. I am a certified control engineer, I can program a PLC, and I have good knowledge in the field of industrial automation, so I potentially had lots of career choices. 

My answer was ‘None’ because I wanted a career that can eventually lead me to time and financial freedom, and I reckoned that running an online business was the only answer.

The main reason why starting my first online business was hard for me and it took me a long time before starting making any money is that I lacked focus.

When  I started to focus, everything changed for me.

If you promote a weight loss offer, you need to share more content about different tips and methods to lose weight, you will attract people who want to lose weight, and when you offer them a product they will end up buying it and thanking you for it.

Step 2: Offer valuable information

After making sure that you are congruent with your content, you need to make sure that content is valuable, it needs to be information that people can actually use it and get results.

When people go to your social media page or a blog, make sure you give them what they came for. They obviously have problems, so give them the solution to that.

You have to understand that there’s going to be a lot of people reading your stuff.  But at the end of the process, only a very few will read article after article until they reach a sales page.
